JAMMU, Dec 3: Horticulture Department today organized a day-long awareness camp for farmers under its MIDH 2019-20 scheme at Government Fruit Plant Nursery, Maralia.
The camp was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO), Jammu Sarabjit Singh, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Vijay Kumar Angurana, DLSMS (Ento) Sanjeev Kurlupia and Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), RS Pura, Abhinav Gupta.
Addressing the farmers during the camp, the CHO exhorted them to aval incentives on departmental schemes under CAPEX and CSS. He explained in detail the incentives available on Area Expansion Programme, creation of water resources viz dug well/deep bore well, water harvesting tanks, power tillers, tractors, vermin compost units, on farm handling units and other components as well which will raise the economic status of the farming community.
The DHO, while speaking, impressed upon the farmers to use bio-pesticides for the control of insects/pests/diseases. He also asked them to spray chemicals keeping in view the threshold level of insects/pests/diseases.
The camp was attended by about 100 progressive orchadists/farmers of RS Pura Block.
