This has reference to the Statement of Minister of State for Cooperatives Manohar Lal Sharma. It will be a step in right direction if the democratic character of Cooperative societies is maintained by holding their elections.
The Cooperative movement which was once at peak in the State has, unfortunately fallen on bad days. It played a crucial role in providing essential commodities to rural people at affordable prices. The system collapsed when there was political interference in their functioning. Coupled within mismanagement and nepotism the whole edifice of Cooperative movement came crashing down.
There is great scope for revival of the movement in the State, and it can provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth of the State besides bringing great relief to the poor section of society.
The Cooperatives must remain on Vanguard in providing the required lead to the millions of our producers.
The vision of Cooperative managers should be to withstand the challenges of competitive business environment where excellence, efficiency and higher productivity parameters will be given top priority.
