JAMMU, Nov 16: Former Minister and president Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS), Gulchain Singh Charak today demanded the administration to take effective steps to avoid tragic accidents and resultant loss of lives.
Expressing grief over losses of lives in recent road accidents in J&K, Charak said many Governments came and went but dance of death on J&K roads are continue. He said Government and its agencies have fail to control the menace of overloading, over speeding, talking on mobiles while driving or playing blaringly loud distracting music in public transport and of course bad roads.
“Each accident is followed by messages of “shock and grief”, some ex-gratia grants for the dead and injured, strict checking of the unrelated private car owners and their challans, raised ‘collections’ from public transporters at shady road bends and enquiries leading nowhere; and the milieu carries on till the next accident,” the former Minister said.
He demanded the Government to depute some quite capable officers to find out the causes of such tragic accidents and lapses in performing the duty by the concerned agencies responsible for implementing the traffic rules and causes of such heinous crimes so that innocent lives could be saved.
