GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes ‘Gurbani Kirtan’

JAMMU, Nov 4: To commemorate the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Jee, the Govt PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu, under the aegis of Higher Education Department, J&K, is conducting series of events like community services, seminars/symposium, Blood Donation Camp, distribution of Langar in orphanage and old age home, humanity services etc from today.
On the Inaugural day today, “Gurbani Kirtan” was organized in the Department of Music. Bhai Harpreet Singh Chauhala Wale, renowned Ragi Group, was invited on the occasion. The objective of the event was to spread the message of eternal human values of oneness, brotherhood, peace and harmony preached by the Guru. The entire atmosphere reverberated with the devotional Kirtan.
Dr Ravinder Kumar Tickoo, Principal of the college , presented mementos to the Ragi Jatha. Dr Surjeet Kour was the Incharge of the Programme while Dr Davinder Kour and Dr Revika Arora, coordinated the event. Dr Nirlape Kour is overall incharge of 5- day programme.
In continuation to this programme, a slogan writing competition was also organized by the Department of Home Science on the topics:- ‘Protection of Environmental’ ‘Oneness’ and ‘Women Empowerment’. The students displayed their creative talent through this competition. Dr Irvinder Kour was the incharge of the event which was judged by Prof Minnie Sharma, Prof Anjali Bhat and Dr Anamika. The winners were Artu Dogra, Anjali and Shavani Choudhary, respectively.
