JAMMU, Oct 4: All Jammu Auto Operators Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Shanti Saroop Gupta and discussed various issues being faced by auto rickshaw operators.
While speaking, Gupta said that Motor Vehicle Department is not taking trials of auto rickshaws for driving licences. He appealed to the MVD higher-ups to conduct the trials.
“Traffic Police Department is imposing heavy fine on auto rickshaw operators”, he said and appealed to the Traffic Police Department for not imposing heavy fines on auto rickshaw operators.
He also demanded Rs 51 for first two kilometers as discussed with Government.
“Transport Commissioner had issued the order in the year 1991 for traveling of three passengers in place of two passengers in auto rickshaws, but the Traffic Police Department is not accepting that order and imposing fine on auto rickshaws”, Gupta said and appealed to the Traffic Police Department to impose fine on the auto rickshaws as per order.
Rajinder Singh Vice President, Ajay Bhat General Secretary and other members of the association attended the meeting.
