JAMMU, Aug 31: Taking strong note of the numerous videos gone viral on social media regarding the forcible marriage of minority girl with Muslim boy after getting her converted to Islam in Pakistan, BJP national vice-president & Jammu and Kashmir Prabhari, Avinash Rai Khanna, has taken up the issue with the India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahamanyam Jai Shankar.
In a letter addressed to Jai Shankar, Khanna, while expressing serious concern over the incidents of forcible conversions and marriages of girls belonging to minorities in Pakistan, sought immediate intervention in the matter by taking up the same with the Pakistan Government so that the rights of the families of Hindus and Sikhs in particular are safeguarded.
He further mentioned that India is the only hope for the minorities living in Pakistan and that our Government should come forward and use all available means to make the neighbour country understand that there should be no violation of human rights in any form and that a sense of security be induced among these sections and there is no case of forcible conversion or harassment to them in future.
Avinash Rai Khanna also referred to some tortures that were inflicted upon some hapless daughters in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtun Kha, who under duress had to embrace Islam. The Global outcry and the Indian Government’s intervention in such cases were appreciated by Avinash Rai Khanna during his interaction with the media at party headquarters, Jammu, on the sidelines of a function there.
