J&K ITCO to start EDPs, soft skill workshops

JAMMU, Aug 2: J&K ITCO Ltd, a joint venture company, of the Central and the State Government’s financial and industrial infrastructure enterprises, has decided to start Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) and soft skill workshops for the unemployed youth and entrepreneurs, respectively.
These decisions were taken in 117th Board meeting of J&K ITCO held at Jammu Club under the chairmanship of Mohammad Shafi Pandit, IAS (Retired). In the meeting, the Board noted with satisfaction the phenomenal progress made, in recent years, by this flagship company of the State, in the industrial-financial sector, in becoming fully compliant on the legal front, after having gone into disarray, because of lack of proper management, and also in generating business opportunities for the company.
Agreeing with the vision of the Chairman, supported by the present management under the leadership of the whole time director of the company, the Board decided that J&K ITCO will take all possible steps to revive lost status of the company in being a major player for promoting entrepreneurship, with the aim of creating gainful employment opportunities for the youth of the State.
In this context, the Board decided to start in-house Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Soft Skill, Motivational and Entrepreneur friendly programmes for the benefit of the target group, including young and unemployed youth as well as the new entrepreneurs having set up start up businesses.
The EDPs will focus on soft skill trainings on topics having relevance in the present scenario so that unemployed youth of J&K can be benefited, attracted and have an urge to be entrepreneur rather than job seeker. The Board also elaborated that J&K ITCO will also start some soft skill workshops on filing of various returns, uses of social media etc., and also in the context of seeking latest technology options for the entrepreneurs.
The meeting was attended by Mohd Shafi Pandit (Chairman), Rajeev Mehra (WTD), Rakesh Mehra (Director), K Sanjeev Dogra (COO) and nominees of the sponsoring agencies, including J&K SIDCO, J&K SICOP and J&K SFC.
