*DC directs seizure of vehicle, cancellation of permit

POONCH, July 22: Despite spree of road accidents in the region and claims of the Transport and Traffic Police authorities having taken strict measures to curb the same, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav seized a Tata Sumo vehicle being driven by a minor boy in the age group of 14-15 yrs , on Sheendhara Road in border area of Poonch district.
Official sources said that incident took place last evening when the DC Poonch along with staff had gone to that area on surprise visit. He noticed a minor boy driving passenger vehicle (Tata Sumo) coming from Poonch side and asked his security staff to stop Sumo.

The DC along with staff found that hardly 14-15 year old boy, with no driving license was driving the vehicle and was carrying 9 passengers towards Sheendhara from Poonch. He grilled the passengers also holding them responsible for such road accidents. The DC ordered seizure of the vehicle and directed cancellation of the route permit of the vehicle toTransport authorities.
SHO Poonch, SP Singh said that on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Rahul Yadav the vehicle has been seized. He said the boy was also detained and his father who is said to be the owner of the vehicle has been called to the Police Station. He identified the accused driver as Gulfraz, son of Zulfkar, resident of Sheendhara in district Poonch. Zulfkar is said to be an SPO. The DC has warned to the people of the area not to allow their minor boys, having no driving license to drive vehicles. He also asked the Traffic and Transport authorities in district Poonch to expedite their functioning and strictly monitor operation of vehicles on roads.
