398th Jayanti of Mata Roop Bhawani celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety

JAMMU, June 17: The 398 th Prakash Utsav (Jayanti) of Alakhishwari Mata Shree Roop Bhawani was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety today.
The celebrations were held for the first time in the Mata Roop Bhawani Janambhumi (birth place) at Dedmar, Safa Kadal in Srinagar after a gap of 30 years since the mass exodus of the Pandits from the Valley.
The function was organized by the devotees of Mata in collaboration with Shri Alak Sahiba (SAS) Trust and people drawn from different parts of the Kashmir as well as outside including Pune, Maharashtra participated in it.
On the occasion Pushp Archana was held under the supervision of Pt. Omkar Nath Shastri and devotees paid obeisance to Mata and prayed for peace and prosperity of mankind. The devotees were also served with prashad.
The pooja -archana was also held at Cheshma Sahibi in Srinagar, Waskura and Manigam Asthapans of Mata in district Ganderbal today.
In connection with Prakash Utsav of Mata Shree Roop Bhawani a grand function as held at Mata Roop Bhawani Temple Tirath Nagar Talab Tillo here which was organized by SAS. A hawan was also solemnized on the occasion which started yesterday evening and culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon. The Vedic mantras (hymns) and Shalokas (Vakhs) of Mata were recited by the devotees on the occasion. A large number of devotees attended the function and they were served the Prashad after Puranahuti.
The president of the Trust apprised the participants of the future programmes and projects for preservation of Kashmir shrines and asthapans managed by SAS Trust which include renovation of temple at Nawa Kadal, and Taposthal at Janam Bhoomi, Dedmar, Safa Kadal , Taposthalls at Waskura, Mnigam and Lar.
Meanwhile a book titled as Rup Dedh -Mata Roop Bhawani Katha written by Kanwal Peshin a well known artist and poet was also released at the holy shrine of Mata at Tirath Nagar, Talab Tillo. The book is available in both Devnagari and Nastaliq scripts.
The book was released by Dr Sushil Wattal a well known social activist along with Vikram Koul of Nand Bab Ashram and Arvin Tickoo chief coordinator Athroot.
