Fugitive narcotic smuggler arrested within 24 hours

KATHUA, June 5: Hiranagar police arrested the narcotic smuggler who fled from police custody at Hiranagar Jail Complex yesterday within 24 hours of the incident.
The narcotic smuggler identified as Sagar, son of Manjeet Rai of Chak Lohat tehsil Samral Ludhiana , Punjab was arrested by a team from Police Station Hiranagar at Lakhanpur when he was on way to enter Punjab. The Hiranagar police has initiated legal proceedings in this regard.
He was involved in FIR No 71/2019 Under Section 8/15NDPS Act of PS Hiranagar.He along with his accomplice were arrested by Hiranagar Police two days back and the truck in which they were travelling was also seized. On its search police recovered 90 kgs of poppy straw from it. The duo was to be produced in Hiranagar Court yesterday where from one accused fled from Police custody.
The Kathua police launched a manhunt to arrest him and all nakas bordering Punjab were also alerted.
Also taking quick action SSP Kathua placed a Sub Inspector and a selection Grade Constable under suspension while an SPO was attached to DPL Kathua for dereliction of duty yesterday.
