KISHTWAR, May 28: Three miscreants including an ex-militant were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in several criminal activities.
“Three notorious persons involved in various criminal activities like drug peddling, bovine smuggling and hawala money trading have been detained under PSA in Kishtwar district”, a police spokesman here said.
“Khurshid Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone of village Kuchhan, tehsil Mugalmaidan, Chatroo, district Kishtwar, was a surrendered militant of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HUJI) outfit and was repeatedly involved in multiple cases of bovine smuggling in the district, while Farooq Ahmed, son of Abdul Khaliq of Nai Basti Watnar, tehsil Kokernag, district Anantnag, currently living in Lanyal, Kishtwar was a notorious drug peddler and was involved in series of drug peddling cases and Tanveer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir Ginoo of Tunder Dachhan, Kishtwar was involved in hawala money trading and active Over Ground Worker (OCW) of Hizbul-Mujahideen outfit”, spokesman said, adding that trio have been detained under PSA.
He added that dossiers were prepared by District Police and forwarded by SSP Kishtwar Shakti Pathak to the District Magistrate Kishtwar who formally issued the detention orders under PSA.
A Police team headed by Inspector Bashir Ahmed executed the detention order and all the accused have been lodged in District Jail Kathua.
The spokesperson said that detention of these accused under PSA was need of the hour as they were becoming a threat to peaceful atmosphere in the district.
