HC dismisses petition, directs Govt to finalize selection for Secy JKAACL post

JAMMU, May 28: High Court today dismissed a writ petition filed by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) challenging the advertisement and selection process for the post of Secretary, JKAACL and vacated the interim directions issued on April 5, 2019 thus paving way for the finalization of the selection process.
The Search Committee constituted by the State Government has prepared a panel of 5 persons for its onward submission to the President of the Academy— Governor.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appearing for the petitioner, Senior AAG H A Siddiqui and Government Advocate Bhanu Jasrotia for the State Government/JKAACL, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur in the open court perused the criteria framed by the Search Committee in its meeting held on April 9, 2019 and found no fault in the selection process.
The High Court while dismissing the writ petition allowed the State Government to proceed further in the matter by finalizing the selection process for the post of Secretary, JKAACL as the rider had been imposed by the court vide its order dated April 5, 2019.
