Husband assaulted, wife gang-raped

JAMMU, May 22: A man was assaulted and his wife was gang-raped in the area falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor Police Station.
As per police sources, a man hailing from Panjgrian Lehar of Jourian along with his wife were heading towards their home after attending annual congregation on April 18 at village Vasava, when four youth intercepted the couple at around 9 pm near Nonath bridge. Two youth held the man hostage and two other took turns to rape his wife.
The rapists and the assaulters threatened the couple of dire consequences if they disclosed the episode to anyone and escaped from the spot.
However, the couple reached Police Post Chowki Choura and gave a written complaint in Police Post Chowki Choura stating that four youth namely Deepu, Rakesh, son of Ganga Ram, Munna, son of Madan and one unknown persons intercepted and assaulted them near Nonath bridge. Two youth also took turns to rape the lady, the complainant alleged.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 106/19 under section 341, 323 and 376-D RPC has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and hunt has been launched to nab the rapists.
However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled.
