RAJOURI, May 15: Property worth lakhs was destroyed in a major fire in a shop at Palma village of Rajouri on Kotranka road last night.
A police spokesman said that during intervening night of May 14-15, fire suddenly broke out in the Karayana shop of one Anil Sharma, son of Subash Sharma, resident of Palma. When the people came to know they gathered there in large number. Two Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and it took about one hour to control the fire. The cause of fire was not known.
Meanwhile, at around 11.30 AM the shopkeepers of Palma market blocked Rajouri -Budhal road and alleged some sabotage. They also alleged that Fire tenders arrived late and three shops of Anil Sahrma were totally damaged. They alleged that no officer was send by administration on the spot. Later, Tehsildar, Rajouri and SHO P/S Rajouri reached on spot and pacified the protesters and gave assurances for possible compensation to the victim.
