Restrictions imposed in Srinagar, Budgam from tonight

SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Apprehending trouble in view of the call for protest given by breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) tomorrow, the authorities imposed restricts in most parts of Srinagar and Badgam districts in the central Kashmir.
An official spokesman said here this evening in view of law and order situation and to avoid breach of peace and tranquility and damage to life and property, District Magistrate, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan has imposed restrictions on the movement of public and transport under Section 144 CrPC in the areas falling under eleven police stations.
The police stations included Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal, S R Gunj, Zadibal, Soura, Maisuma, Kralkhud, Shaheed Gunj and Batmaloo of district Srinagar from midnight till further orders.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar has been directed to implement this order in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Shah in exercise of powers vested in him has imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC on February 22, 2013 from 0600 hrs in district Budgam.
SSP, Budgam has been directed to implement this order in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said the situation remained by and large peaceful across the valley today.
Today miscreants pelted stones on private and Government vehicles in Kulgam town injuring four people including a Divisional forest officer.
He said many vehicles were damaged in the incident including a SRTC bus, he said. (AGENCIES)
