NG Police Welfare Forum protests against pay anomalies

JAMMU, Apr 20: Non Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum held a protest at Vijaypur against the discrimination with retired police personnel who are facing pay anomaly for a long time now.
The protestors said that effect of Pay Commission has been given prospectively which means from date of order whereas the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when Fifth Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State. They said in implementation of Pay Commission only Police Department was ignored.
The protestors said that some of the police personnel who were deprived of benefit of the Pay Commission have expired and those surviving are still protesting for the justice.
The protestors also demanded enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000, cash less health care policy be provided to the police personnel on the pattern of army and other paramilitary forces, 15 percent quota should be reserved for the wards of retired police personnel for recruitment in police, Rs 50,000 should be sanctioned at the death of police personnel as well retired police personnel for performing the last rites of deceased and OPD slips in police hospital should be free of cost and there should be separate counters for senior citizens.
Those who participated in the protest included district president of the Forum Raghubir Singh, its vice president, Karnail Singh and Mohammed Sultan, general secretary Uttam Singh, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Naresh Samyal, Manohar Lal, Hem Raj, Mohinder Singh, Devi Dass, Sant Singh, Jagdish Singh, Tirath Ram Sharma, Madan Lal and other members of the Forum.
