KATHUA, Apr 8: Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) held a protest demonstration in support of demands of PDD daily wagers here, today. The protest was led by P.C Sharma, provincial president of the Union. The main agenda of the protest was to stress the Government for creation of 483 posts of Class IV cadre for regularization of PDD daily wagers of Kathua.
While addressing P.C Sharma said that 549 daily wagers (292 of EM&RE Div. Kathua + 257 of STD III) of district Kathua who have completed their more than 10-22 years services are still not regularized by the Government due to non availability of posts where as 1600 daily wagers of Kashmir and 700 daily wagers of other districts of Jammu have been regularized in terms of SRO-381 of 1981 with the special provision of Cabinet decision No 151/23/2012 dated 30-08-2012.
He said that it is matter of great discrimination with the daily wagers of district Kathua and these workers are having a lot of resentment because most part of their lives have been spent in daily wage services. The policies of the Government about workers are not clear. The workers are only harassed and exploited by the Government as they are being paid only Rs 4500/6700 against the work of Rs 50000 i.e actual salary of lineman/SBA.
PC Sharma strongly demanded creation of 483 posts of Class-IV cadre in both divisions and demanded regularization of left over 549 daily wagers of Kathua. The Union has already submitted this proposal to the Commissioner/ Secretary PDD and same is pending in the office of Chief Engineer, EM&RE Jammu for its recommendations and comments.
Sharma said that these daily wagers have lost their patience and threatened for self immolation if the Government not created posts for their regularization. He discarded the policy announced by the Government in shape of SRO-520 for regularization of DRWS.
He said this policy is baseless and 60000 DRWS are befooled by launching such rubbish policy. He again demanded and appealed to the Governor of J&K and his Advisor K.K Sharma for creation of 483 posts of Class-IV cadre in district Kathua for regularization of DRWS on the same analogy as done in Kashmir and other districts of Jammu so that discrimination with daily wagers could be avoided.
PC Sharma appealed to the employees and workers to remain united under the banner of PEEU and extended support to the ongoing strike of PHE daily wagers.
