JAMMU, Mar 4: Bhartiya Janta Party has appealed the Election Commission of India to exclude the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party from scheduled deliberations with recognized political party at Jammu tomorrow as the JKNPP does not qualify to be considered as ‘recognized’.
In a letter, written to Chief Election Commissioner, ECI, the president of BJP Ramnagar, Rameez Sheikh has explained that JKNPP does not qualify any of the parameters as specified as conditions for recognition as a State political party.
The JKNPP has neither secured minimum six percent votes in the last elections nor it won at least three percent of the total number of seats in the Legislative Assembly, says the BJP letter adding that in view of this the JKNPP should be excluded from the scheduled deliberations by the visiting Election Commission of Indian Members with recognized political parties of the State here tomorrow.
Demanding formal de-recognition of JKNPP as a recognized State party, the BJP also sought amendment/modification of Statistical report on General Elections 2014 to Legislative Assembly of J&K, which mentions JKNPP at serial number 8 as a ‘State Party’.
“In view of the matter, it is humbly prayed before your good-self to issue affirmative orders in this regard so that law of the land could be administered without any delay,” says the latter, copies of which have also been forwarded to the Chief electoral Officer of J&K State and Chief Secretary of J&K.
