Development of backward, remote areas priority of Council: CEC

Leh, Jan 4: CEC, LAHDC, Jamyang Tsering Namgial conducted tour to Sku Markha constituency accompanied by Deputy Chairman Gyal P Wangyal, Councilor Sku Markha, Xen PHE, Construction Division, Irrigation and PDD Leh, Project Director LREDA, Wildlife Warden and BDO Nimoo today.
Addressing a gathering at Sku, CEC said that development of backward and remote places is the priority of Council. Centre Government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi launched various schemes for the welfare and development of rural population. He said that the main purpose of his visit is to make people aware of all these schemes and also to ensure that benefits of these schemes are available to the people in remote villages. He mentioned about all such schemes and said that under Subhagya Scheme every village in the country will get electrified by end of year 2019. He urged the public to stay aware and take advantage of these schemes.
On the way at Sumdoo, CEC interacted with the people of Sumda Chunun, Sumda Chenmo, Sumda Do, Stogto and gave patient hearing to their demands and grievances. People of Sumda Chunun demanded repair of irrigation khuls, culvert and road till Azang and trekking route from Achiri to Sumda Chunun. CEC gave direction to Rural Development Department to submit report along with estimates within a week on repair of irrigation khuls and Xen Construction has been directed to submit report to Dy Chairman’s office in a month’s time regarding road and culvert. On trekking route he assured the villagers to explore the area and look for favourable actions.
Villagers of Sumda Chenmo on priority demanded for road from Rongdo to Sumda, medical centre and electricity connection. The people of Sumda-Do demanded tele communication services, compensation from BRO and from Tsogsti the demands include upgradation of road and repair of Wari bridge.
CEC said that Rs. 7.88 crores has been sanctioned for road from Rongdo to Sumda and tendering is under process. The paper works with BRO is also under process for compensation. He also assured to start the repair work of Wari bridge by beginning of the season and to provide a temporary medical facility till Medical centre get sanctioned from the State Government.
At Sku, villagers requested for drinking water facility, restoration of irrigation khuls, installation of mobile tower and DSPT, repair of solar power plant and BT of road in Sku and extension of Sku road till Hankar.
CEC said that BT will be done under PMGSY and directed PHE to repair water taps and provide hand pumps. He instructed BDO, Nimoo to carry survey and submit low cost estimate for irrigation khuls and details for construction of community hall in Sku. Rural Development Department was directed to do a survey for 10 kms footpath from Sku to Shingo and submit the estimate. He assured to take the demand for mobile tower with higher authorities at State and centre level.
