JAMMU, Dec 23: Nagrota police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu’ foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 43 cattle and arresting two smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid nakas at different places and intercepted four Srinagar bound trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AC-4327, JK02AN-6415, JK12-8817 and JK02AJ-2527.
During checking, police rescued 43 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two smugglers, who have been identified as Saddam Hussain, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Hiller Arhama, Tehsil Kokernag, District Anantnag and Muzafer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi of Gool, District Ramban.
Cases under FIR Numbers 320/18, 321/18, 322/18 and 323/18 under Sections 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by SI Daljit Singh and ASI Janak Raj made the arrests under the supervision of Mohan Lal Sharma SDPO Nagrota, Dushyant Sharma SP Rural Jammu and Vivek Gupta DIG JKS Range/SSP Jammu.
