Forum for Peace & Territorial Integrity meets Governor

JAMMU, Dec 18: A deputation of Forum for Peace & Territorial Integrity of J&K led by Forum’s Chief Patron, Sheikh Ab. Rehman (Ex-MP) called on Governor and discussed various aspects of loss of lives both at the hands of militants and security forces.
Briefing the Governor about the importance of peace in the State, the deputation maintained that there is no alternative to dialogue for peace to avoid loss of lives of common citizens as also valiant Jawans of security forces.
The deputation while stressing to curb the menace of corruption in the State brought to the notice of the Governor that out of total 312 cases of corruption against high profile political figures and bureaucrats, only 164 cases have been presented in the court of law and remaining 148 cases have been kept under the carpet due to impact and clout of pressure of the political and bureaucratic nature which need be expedited without further delay.
The deputation demanded rotation of reserved constituencies to give representation to other deserving constituencies with similar SC/ST population.
Shrine Board for Mata Machail in Padder, regional councils for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Sub-regional Hill Development Council for Ramban, Doda and Chenab valley and also for Pir Panjal areas of districts Rajouri and Poonch were among other demands.
The Governor listened to the deputation and assured to do the needful as far as possible.
