RAJOURI, Nov 14: The police has detained a notorious bovine smuggler under Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in cases of bovine smuggling in Rajouri district.
During a recent exercise, it came to notice that one Khadam Hussain, son of Noor Hussain resident of Behrote village of Thanamandi tehsil of Rajouri district is involved in multiple cases of bovine smuggling in Rajouri as well as Poonch districts.
Accordingly, a dossier was prepared by Rajouri District Police and the same was forwarded by SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas to District Magistrate Rajouri, who formally issued the order of detention of the said accused under PSA.
A police team headed by SDPO Thanamandi, Iftikar Ahmed Chowdhary implemented the order and detained the accused who has been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The said accused detained under PSA stands booked in number of cases including FIR 164/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act of Surankote Police Station, FIR No. 71/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act of Surankote Police Station and FIR No. 110/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act of Police Station Thannamandi.
An official spokesman said that detention of this accused under PSA was need of the hour as he was becoming a threat to peaceful atmosphere in the district especially in view of Panchayat elections. The police has sought public cooperation in this regard.
