JAMMU, Jan 19: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today visited Government Medical College, Jammu, SMGS and Associated Hospitals to take on the spot assessment of the patient care at these hospitals.
This was the first visit of the Minister to these hospitals ever since he took over as the Minister for Medical Education.
Taking a round of the SMGS hospital, the Minister asked for giving a facelift to main corridors and ensuring cleanliness of wards, theatres and other units.
In a major on the spot decision, the Minister directed computerization of all the departments and linkage of all HoDs with the drug store so that patients don’t feel any inconvenience. He also directed for sample testing of drugs by batches before their use by patients.
Taj also directed landscaping and face-lifting of the hospital complexes so that a patient not only gets physical relief there but also feels so psychologically. He asked the Medical Superintendents to assert themselves and ensure that patients are facilitated at every level.
The Minister also visited the upcoming Super Specialty Hospital at Jammu and took review of the pace of its completion. He impressed upon the executing agencies to get the hospital operationalised at the earliest.
Later, the Minister took a detailed meeting of HoDs, faculty and Medical Superintendents. He asked them to work with zeal and dedication, adding that providing world class treatment and care to patients is his dream for which he sought their cooperation. He said more and more facilities would be added to the hospitals and also financial assistance, as per norms, would also be provided adequately.
Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, M. K. Dwivedi, Principal, GMC, Medical Superintendents of these hospitals accompanied the Minister during the visit.
