Residents protest, demand repair of Kishtwar-Thakraie-Keshwan road

KISHTWAR, Sept 18: Aggrieved over the recent accident in which 17 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured, the residents of Thakraie, Keshwan, Sarawan and adjoining areas held protest.
A large number of residents from Thakraie, Keshwan, Sarawan and adjoining areas assembled at Kuriya bridge and raised slogans against JKPCC, PWD (R&B) and PMGSY.

The protestors alleged that due to callous attitude of JKPCC, PWD (R&B) and PMGSY, road accidents are taking place of Kishtwar-Thakraie-Keshwan road, which is in dilapidated condition since long.
They also blocked the Kishtwar-Sinthan road, due to which hundreds of vehicle got stranded.
The protestors were demanding registration of FIR against the aforesaid executing agencies as due to their callous attitude, 17 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured in accident on September 14 this year.
They demanded immediate repair and blacktopping of Kishtwar-Thakraie-Keshwan road so that no more accidents took place in future. They also demanded repair of all the link roads in their areas.
After getting information, officials from the concerned departments rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people of redressing their demand of repair and blacktopping of Kishtwar-Thakraie-Keshwan road within stipulated time.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on Kishtwar-Sinthan road.
