JAMMU, July 24: Seeking enquiry into the alleged assault on NPP leaders including females by the Police in Udhampur yesterday, JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh today warned an avalanche of protests in case FIR is not registered against the SSP Udhampur.
Talking to media persons, here today, he alleged that the FIR lodged against NPP leaders was partly due to the personal vendetta nursed by the said SSP and partly at the behest of BJP. “While the said SSP promoted BJP in District Udhampur, he was given patronage by the Saffron brigade for all his services as a return gift. It’s a case of quid pro quo,” he said and reiterated that registration of FIR against NPP leaders was purely a motivated act.
Alleging that complaint lodged against SSP Udhampur by NPP has been thrown into the dustbin, Harsh Dev said it only suggested that rigours of law were only meant for un-influential but those in power and uniform actually ruled the law. He warned that NPP would launch an avalanche of protests in case FIR against Rayees Bhat was not registered at the earliest. Under sections 166, 167, 351, 352, 503, 504, 506 and 509 besides other provisions of RPC.

“Several protests against bovine smuggling held in Udhampur had greatly offended the SSP who was looking for an opportunity to avenge the NPP leaders. Besides several enquires initiated by the Panthers against the said officer had infuriated him to such an extent that he was openly threatening to settle scores with NPP leaders,” Harsh Dev said while listing reasons for the personal vendetta of the Police officer against him.
Harsh Dev claimed that impartial probe into the past conduct of the said SSP would amply reveal his immense bias and prejudice against NPP leaders who have been frequently booked under frivolous charges with several of them detained without following due process of law.
“Holding a public meeting invites penal action in District Udhampur, presenting memorandum to DCs pertaining to public affairs is treated with contempt with force used even against female NPP leaders”, rued Harsh and observed that democracy was under seize in District Udhampur with Police crushing all voice of dissent at the behest of political masters.
Manju Singh, general secretary JKNPP, was also present in the press conference.
