“PK is of a very clear and firm view that governing Jammu and Kashmir through half-separatism has proved to be suicidal for the nation building in Jammu and Kashmir’’, convenor PK Dr Agnishekhar and its chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here. While turning the attention of recent statement of ex Chief Minster and National Conference (NC) president, Dr Farooq Abdullah who advocated for an Ireland type solution of J&K, PK leaders took a strong dig at him and said that political suggestions of converting Jammu and Kashmir into some sort of Ireland or Scotland are not only misleading and mischievous but essentially subversive. They said PK holds that all political demands emanating from the Muslim leadership of Kashmir from Greater Autonomy, Self Rule to Independence are complimentary and mutually reinforcing political manoeuvres to help in the secession of the State for its eventual unification with Pakistan.
The claim of the Muslim leaders of Kashmir to be the sole party entitled to be considered for negotiations is hegemonic, exclusivist and subversive. “We want to state it with all authority that more than 40 percent of the population of the State of J &K is mainly Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. These six million people living in the State have as much claim and right on the State as well as in deciding its future as the Muslims living in the State have’’, they added.
They expressed concern over the statements of a segment of the leaders of the opposition in the Centre which have legitimized the contentions of the separatist leaders of the State by supporting unconditional dialogue with Pakistan and the separatist factions. “We call upon them to rise above political expediency and partisan interests to support the national cause in Jammu and Kashmir, they added.
The PK leaders also urged both Central and State Government to abandon its policy of the return and rehabilitation of the internally displaced Hindus of Kashmir and treat the issue as a mere issue of a financial package. The Government should recognize that Hindus of Kashmir have suffered genocide and only a comprehensive policy to reverse the genocide will ensure their return and reiterated the demand of carving out of a centrally administered Union Territory, for the rehabilitation of exiled Hindus of Kashmir is the only way to reverse the genocide and ensure the return and rehabilitation of Hindus of Kashmir, they added.
