84 cases settled in Lok Adalat

SAMBA, July 16: Eighty-four cases were settled by a National Lok Adalat held here in the District Court Complex Samba under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge RK Wattal (Chairman, District legal services Authority, Samba).
Three benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat. The 1st bench headed by RK Wattal was constituted to deal with pre/post litigation MAXCT and matrimonial cases. RK Wattal was assisted by SK Khanmotra, senior Advocate while 2nd Bench headed by CJM/Sub-Judge, Deepak Sethi (Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Samba) was constituted to deal with bank Recovery suits, 488 CrPC and civil suits. Deepak Sethi was assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Additional Munsiff Samba.
Third bench was constituted to deal with criminal compoundable matters/Domestic Violence Act, 138 NI Act & Labour, traffic challans and miscellaneous. The bench was comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and Kamiya Singh Andotra, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Samba.
A total of 183 cases were taken up by all the three benches out of which 84 cases were disposed off. In MACT cases, an amount of Rs 33,95,000 was awarded as compensation. Seven bank cases were also disposed off and an amount of Rs 3,47,000 was settled. Four labour dispute cases were also solved and an amount of Rs 4600 was settled.
