JAMMU, July 16: Former MP and senior Congress leader Madan Lal Sharma conducted three-day extensive tour of Rajouri and Poonch districts to gear up the party cadre for forthcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
He addressed party workers and public meetings at Sunderbani, Rajouri, Surankote, Poonch and Mendhar and besides meeting various deputations and groups of people enroute.
Levelling serious charges of cheating Jammu against coalition Government, Mr Sharma maintained that BJP came into power in Jammu region on the name of abolishing Article 370, settling West Pak refugees, de-escalation of border tensions and strengthening of Jammu region but after shaking hands with PDP, the saffron party forgot serving to Jammu region. “Now the people of Jammu are feeling cheated with the non-fulfilment of promises made by BJP as mentioned in their election manifesto,” he said.
The Congress leader also criticized the BJP for misguiding people in various parts of the country for gaining power and apprehended that the saffron party may communalise the situation to retain power. He cautioned and hoped that now the people of country would l not be trapped in false promises and will vote Congress to power in both Centre and in the State.
Prominent among those, who attended the meetings, include former minister Shabir Khan, Chief spokesman JKPCC Ravinder Sharma, Taj Mir, Zaffarullah, Parveen Sarvar Khan, Sain Rashid, Susheel Sharma, Pushpinder Gupta and a galaxy of Congress leaders from both the districts.
