14th Eco-Pad Yatra concludes

LEH, July 12: The 14th Eco-Pad Yatra organized by Live to Love Foundation India concluded today at Khaltsi.
On the occasion, Executive Councillor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus was chief guest, while Thuksey Rinpoche was guest of the honour. Skyabje Khamtak Rinpoche, Temisgum Councillor Tseing Morup, Executive Engineer SSD Khaltsi Nabi, SHO Khaltsi Tashi Gyaltsan, Ladakh Buddhist Association Sham President Tsewang, YDA Secretary Karma Sonam, Khaltsi Goba and large public were present during the concluding function.
Thuksey Rinpoche was leading Eco-Pad holy Yatra comprising more than 100 yatris from Vietnamese, Bhutan and Gujurat viz monks, nuns, student and public pilgrims. The Yatris covering a distance of approximately 150 kilometers concluded at Khaltsi today.
During the 15 days Eco-Pad Yatra nearly 200 sags of garbage were collected on the way while crossing more than 12 villages.
Executive Councillor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus said that such eco-friendly yatra combining with the cleaning drive convey a positive message to the society towards environment issue. He also mentioned about Hill Council efforts in cleaning the garbage segregation plant started at block levels so that wastes especially can be reused in construction of building and road.
Thuksey Rinpoche said that Yatra was aimed to educated masses to have concern about fragile environment as Ladakh started to face environment challenge due to lack of concern towards environment. He also mentioned about his future plan to organize such Pad Yatra in Nubra and Changthang to spread awareness about environment.
Live to Love India project coordinator Wangchuk SAID THAT the main objective of this Pad Yatra WAS to spread awareness amongst the people about protecting the environment.
On the occasion, students of Moravian Mission School and Jamyang School presented culture programme.
