RAJOURI, May 31: The police seized two vehicles smuggling 17 bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road in Rajouri area last night.
Official sources said that a police party from Chingus intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK11C/ 1462 during last mid night and found nine bovine animals loaded in it. The smugglers managed to escape leaving behind the vehicle. The police seized vehicle and rescued the cattle.
Another vehicle No. JK11B/ 4398, loaded with eight bovine animals was seized near Rajouri by police party led by SHO Tahir Khan last night. The driver escaped from the spot taking cover of darkness, the police said.
The police claimed to have registered cases in this connection. It said the manhunt for the accused smugglers was going on.
