Traffic Police assaults photojournalist

Srinagar, Feb 1:  Photojournalist working with the Daily Excelsior was today abused and thrashed by the Traffic Police in Boniyar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla District.
Abid Nabi, Daily Excelsior photojournalist, said that two-three traffic police personnel who had laid naka at Chahlla Boniyar stopped him and asked for the papers. “We showed them the relevant documents, like RC, License, pollution certificate. The traffic police said to my cousin that why you have not installed a hi-security number plate (digital) on your vehicle,” he said, adding as the car was old they had not installed the hi-security number plate.
He said during the argument “they dragged me and my friend out of the car, abused and ruthlessly thrashed us”.
Meanwhile Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) has taken a strong note of assault on their member and demanded action against the police personnel.
