Ceasefire violation: BSF lodges protest with Pak at sector commander level flag

JAMMU: In view of ceasefire violations, BSF on Thursday lodged protest with the Pakistani Rangers at a Sector Commander Level Flag meet held at the Suchjetgarh Zeroline here.

“BSF has strongly objected on dastardly acts of snipping of two BSF soldiers on Jan 3 and 17 and further resorting to unprovoked firing and shelling targeting number of Indian villages, innocent civilian and their properties,” BSF spokesman here said.

He said that BSF conveyed strong protest with message that such provocating acts are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He added that on a request of Pakistan Rangers, a Sector Commander level Flag Meeting was held between Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers on International Border in Suchetgarh area.

The BSF delegation comprising five officers was led by P S Dhiman, DIG BSF Jammu Sector, and Brig Amjad Hussain, Sector Commander Chenab Rangers, Sialkot Punjab, Pakistan led the Pakistan delegation comprising of 10 officers including  Wing Commanders.

Last meeting of Sector Commander Level was held on Sep 29 last year. “This meeting is the first Sector Commander level meeting held on the request of Pak Rangers between the two border guarding forces since heavy shelling and firing experienced on the International Border during the last week in which BSF gave calibrated reply to Pakistan, he added.

The spokesman said that during this period of firing and shelling BSF foiled successfully number of infiltration attempts from Pak soil, including killing of one intruder infiltrated on January 4 in area of Arnia Sector. (AGENCIES)
