KATHUA, Dec 17: Secretary PHE/I&FC Department, M Raju conducted an extensive tour of Samba district to inspect various ongoing works of PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control Departments.
During his tour the secretary inspected various drilled and capped tube wells which were not trapped for proper utilization till date of PHE Department and are to be utilized in order to augment water supply particularly in the Kandi belt of Samba and Kathua districts.
Apart from this, ongoing Flood Protection Works adjoining to proposed AIIMS site were also inspected and requisite institutions to expedite these works were also issued on the spot.
The officers accompanied with the secretary and Chief Engineer, PHE Department Jammu, Er. Ashok Gandotra, Chief Engineer I&FC Department, Jammu, Er P N Bali Superintending Engineer, Er K K Magotra, Executive Engineer, PHE, Division Samba, Er. S K Abrol, Executive Engineer, FC Division Samba, Er Chander Shekhar Gupta, Executive Engineer, TWID, Jammu, Er. Bodh Raj, Executive Engineer, PHE GWDD, Jammu, Er P B Suri and other field officers of the concerned departments.
It may be recalled that the people of Kandi belt of Samba and Kathua districts during the public darbar of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at Samba and Kathua have expressed concern over scarcity of drinking water in the belt and the Minister of PHE, Irrigation and FC, Choudhary Sham Lal had issued directions to officers to take the stock of the peoples problems in the area.
