JAMMU, Oct 10: Tightening noose on encroachers of the land of PMGSY road being constructed from Chanderkot Power House to Shanti Kashtigarh in Doda district, the Revenue Department has constituted a team to make fresh demarcation of land of the road and remove all the encroachments constructed along it in the form of shops or other commercial establishments.
This was disclosed by Tehsildar Rajgarh. He said the Department has constituted a team of officials to make fresh demarcation of land of the road and remove the encroachments over it. He said some people have made encroachments on the road which is under construction by PMGSY after the alignment of the same was changed by the department.
He said the demarcation process will be started within days and who so ever has encroached the land of the road will be dealt under law and the structures demolished.
It may be recalled that Executive Engineer, PMGSY Ramban and Tehsildar Rajgarh have earlier given the notices to the land encroachers who have constructed some structures over the land illegally and asked them to restore the land to the department before action under law is initiated against them. But the land grabbers have failed to restore the land by removing the illegal structures over it till date.
The Tehsildar Rajgarh has also directed the registration of FIR against the land mafia and after the local police failed to take action in the matter the Tehsildar wrote a letter to SSP Ramban seeking his cooperation and demanded security for the Revenue officials who were receiving threats from land mafia.
It may be recalled that local people of area have expressed their grave resentment over the encroachment of the land of road and also the Primary Health Centre Rajgarh alleging that the land belonging to road in front of hospital gate has also been grabbed by mafia who are wielding political influence. They said that the land mafia has let loose a reign of terror in the area by threatening those who want to raise voice against them. The patients visiting hospital face problems as the land in front of hospital gate has been grabbed by raising an illegal structure by the land grabber who is also a political activist.
A delegation of the people of the area led by Noor Hussian also met the Revenue authorities at Ramban and Rajgarh and demanded that the land of the road be demarcated and the illegal encroachments be removed.
