50 ltrs illicit liquor seized

JAMMU, Sept 26: Bishnah police seized 50 litres of illicit liquor from a scooter here today.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bishnah Police Station and sleuths of District Special Branch (DSB) laid a naka at Kotli Charka on Deoli-Bishnah road and signaled a person driving a scooter to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the scooter and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 50 litres of illicit liquor from the scooter and seized it. The rider identified as Kewal Krishan, son of Sardari Lal, a resident of Kotli Charka, Tehsil Bishnah managed to escape from the spot.
The accused had manufactured the illicit liquor in his house and was going to sell it among the people for illegitimate profits, but the cops apprehended him and foiled his bid.
A case under FIR Number 206/17 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Bishnah Police Station and hunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector PP Singh seized the illicit liquor under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
