KUPWARA, Sept 24: Continuing with her public outreach programme, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today visited Kupwara and conducted a grievance redressal camp to know of the people’s difficulties and problems in the district.
From the morning till late in the evening, the Chief Minister met scores of deputations from different walks of life who apprised her of their problems and sought their redressal.
People in general demanded opening of Bungus valley to tourists, augmentation of drinking water, health, power and improvement in the road networks in the district.

Minister for Rural Development & Law, Abdul Haq Khan; MP, Fayaz Ahmad Mir; legislators, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Raja Manzoor and Farooq Mirchal were present on the occasion.
A deputation of people from Jumagund demanded upgradation of Zirhama-Jumagund road and improvement in the health facilities in the habitation besides stocking of adequate quantity of ration and provision of bunkers to the people living on the zero line.
Another deputation from Machil sought upgradation of Middle School, Ring Bala, opening of a JK Bank branch at Chuntiwari, first aid centre at Misri Behak besides construction of Machil House at Srinagar.
A deputation of people from Fekian, Keran sought upgradation of health facilities, availability of roads, setting up of a fire station and a health centre at Mandian village on the zero line. They also demanded a bus for the Higher Secondary School, Keran.
A deputation of members of Gujjar & Bakerwal community sought setting up of residential school and coaching for competitive examinations for the students of the community.
A deputation from Langate demanded banning the mechanised extraction of building material from nallah Mawar, raising of banks of the nallah and setting up of a Maternity & Childcare hospital in the town.
Another deputation from Qaziabad sought augmentation of local grid station, carving out of an educational zone and augmentation of Ashpora and Kralgund hospitals. A deputation from Mawar area demanded augmentation of Qalamabad hospital, flood protection works on Hardkhari nallah and play field at upper Rajwara.
The Chief Minister directed exploring the possibility of re electrification of Hangnikoot and Sochliyar villages at the earliest and separation of critically overloaded receiving stations in the area for augmentation.
A deputation of lawyers from Kupwara sought construction of lawyers chambers at the district court complex, assistance for upgrading lawyers’ library and posting of Presiding Officers in the courts of Kralpora and Trehgam. A deputation of Traders Federation, Kupwara sought upgradation of the local hospital and solid waste management facility in the town. They also demanded fencing of the bus stand land at Regipora.
Deputations of people from Kunan-Poshpora demanded completion of the twin bridges and setting up of a nursing college and a craft development institute in the area. They also demanded protection bunds on the banks of nallah Kehmil.
A deputation of people from Trehgam also demanded construction of protection bunds on Kehmil nallah besides construction of a playfield and widening of road in the local bazaar.
A deputation from Langate led by MLA, Er. Rasheed demanded augmentation of Safarpora receiving station, development of Mankan-Bungus road. They also demanded widening of the road in Qalamabad town and completion of stadium at Mawar bala. Another deputation from Qaziabad demanded construction of community hall in the town.
A deputation of pensioners sought implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their favour and introduction of general educational policy for the State. Another deputation of transporters sought waiving of tax on the payments due to them besides construction of office for the ARTO.
A deputation of Pahari speaking people reiterated their demand for ST status. Another deputation from Kulangam sought revival of the Maidanpora-Braripora water supply scheme and construction of protection bunds on the Pohru nallah.
Mehbooba Mufti assured the deputations to look into their demands and take appropriate action. In many cases the Chief Minister gave on spot directions for the redressal of the problems.
