One commits suicide, three make abortive attempts

JAMMU, Sept 2: In separate cases, one person committed suicide while three others made abortive attempts on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to police sources, a 53-year-old man namely Sham Lal, son of Prem Nath, resident of Ward No 5, Akhnoor, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence late last night. He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu by the family members, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. “Today after conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites,” he added.
In another incident, a young man namely Balbir Kumar (20) son of Bachchan Lal, resident of Nagbani, today allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence. In Muthi area of city outskirts, a woman identified as Kanta Devi (40) wife of Ashok Kumar of Muthi, allegedly tried to end her life by consuming some poisonous substance. A young girl namely Kaleema Kouser (18), daughter of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Bantalab, also allegedly made an abortive attempt on her life by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence. All the three were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
In all four cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
