JAMMU, Aug 25: Joint Action Committee (general category) Jammu Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum in a meeting at Brahman Sabha under the chairmanship of Ved Prakash Sharma, convenor and president Brahman Sabha here cautioned the Minister of PDD not to effect promotions on the basis of reservation at various levels in engineering services as names of such employees have also been included in promotion lists who have already secured promotions on the basis of reservation.
Narayan Singh president Rajput Sabha, Syed Shamim, president Jammu Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum, Capt Anil Gour and others were present in the meeting to discuss the recent developments on Reservation in Promotions. It was impressed upon the PDD Minister High Court has already quashed the rules pertaining to the reservation in promotion by holding them unconstitutional while the Supreme Court has ordered maintenance of status quo.
The participants in the meeting have sought personal intervention of the Minister as head of the administration of PDD to ensure that promotion/ regularisation processes may be continued on general merit and seniority without any benefit of reservation rules. There should be no diversion vis-a-vis standing orders of Supreme Court under the garb of quotas of degree/diploma so as to avoid contempt proceedings in the matter.
