KATHUA, Aug 2: Kathua Police today got a major success by arresting the accused responsible for the murder of a farmer in village Bann in Chann Arrorian area of district Kathua yesterday.
Police said Sumo Gujjar, son of Ferozdin who strangulated to death Ramesh Kumar, son of Dhani Ram in village Bann over a dispute on grazing land was arrested by Rajbagh Police near Punjab border today.
The accused had fled after the crime to evade the arrest resulting into massive protest by people and blockade of National Highway.
The police today raided various areas suspected to be the hideouts of the criminal and later they succeeded in apprehending him from a village near Punjab border this afternoon.
The raid was conducted by a team of Rajbagh Police led by SHO PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary. He has been kept in lock up at Police Station Rajbagh and a case under Section 302 has been registered against him, police said.
