Protest against LPG crisis, black-marketing

MENDHAR, Oct 30: People from Mendhar town and adjoining areas held massive protest demonstration outside the LPG agency in the town here today.
A large number of people including some women, thronged the Bharat Gas outlet in the town at around 12 Noon and held protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the Bharat Gas management and local outlet dealer. They also raised slogans against CAPD Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon, Director CAPD Parvez Malik and local Sub-Divisional Administration.
The people alleged that on the name of verification, they have been put to lot of harassment. The gas supply has been stopped and there was no rate control. They alleged a Government teacher Raj Kumar presently posted at Govt Middle School Patti Zone Kunuiyan (Poonch), was looking after the agency and hardly goes to school. They alleged that domestic gas is being supplied to tea stall/ dhaba owners in black while the general public is left high and dry. No receipt is provided if they provide cylinder to people and exhorbitant rate is being charged for the gas. Even for getting new connection, they people are being made to move from pillar to post and extra money is being demanded.
They alleged that there was no control on the LPG agency holders and the Administration and concerned CAPD officials remain mute spectators. They alleged nexus between CAPD-Police and gas agency dealers as no action is being taken on black marketing of domestic cylinders. The protest continued for about two hour and later Tehsildar and SHO Mendhar reached the site and they talked to the agitating people and then agency holders. They asked them to computerize the record and ensure speedy supply of gas. They also warned strict action against the Government teacher looking after the agency and other staff there. They also assured to launch special driver against black marketing of LPG in the area.
