JAMMU, June 25: Panun Kashmir (PK) organized a two-day youth convention at Patnitop on 24-25 June. The programme was organized by Sumir Bhat, convener, PK Youth. The delegates from Jammu, Delhi and Udhampur participated in the youth convention. A number of issues regarding the social, political and economic importance for the Kashmiri Pandit displaced community were on the agenda of the convention.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, PK presided over the convention while Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East was the chief guest. Virender Raina, national spokesperson-PK presented the welcome and key note address. Upinder Kaul, general secretary, conducted the proceedings of the programme. Nand Lal Rana, president, Nag Mandir complex Managing committee, Patni top presented the vote of thanks. The youth delegates who participated in the deliberations of the convention include Ankur Raina, Vineet Sikal, Sampoorna Bagati, Ritesh Pandita, Namrata Bhan and Punnarva.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu East in his address said that PK is the nationalistic voice on Kashmir and has its deep impact on the socio-political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir. The 28 year consistent struggle in exile of the Kashmiri Pandit community is an inspiration for the nationalist population of the State. There is a great contribution of the leaders of the PK in mobilizing the public opinion and creating awareness regarding the national issues and concerns regarding Kashmir.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, PK in his address said that his organisation is committed to the homeland demand and our whole emphasis is on its achievement. Kashmiri Pandit youth need to know about the history of Kashmir and the issues pertaining to the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the community in Kashmir. The younger generations cannot afford to lose sight of historical facts.
The Government is supposed to crush terrorism with full might, he said. “We dedicate this Youth convention to the great memories of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who sacrificed his life upon the altar of nation and appeal to the Union Government to confer Bharat Ratna upon Dr. Mukherjee”, he added.
Virender Raina, national spokesperson-PK in his address said that PK has its focus even on social and cultural spectrum and that is why we have been successful in organizing inspiring socio-cultural programmes that has a great historical message for the society.
