Srinagar, June 20: As Meteorological Department predicted wet weather throughout this week, Kashmir valley was today lashed with intermittent rains throughout the day.
A MeT official said that the rains which started last night continued heavily throughout the night until dawn. He said that the rains again started in the late afternoon throughout the Valley. He said that there is forecast of rains/thundershowers for over next one week in Kashmir. “Light to moderate rain/thundershowers would occur at a many places over the State in next 24 hours,” the official added.
Due to intermittent rains, the mercury in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley plunged by several notches. The day temperature in Srinagar was recorded 25.4 degree Celsius, four notches below normal, while night temperature settled at 15.9 degree Celsius. Qazigund recorded 23.9 degree Celsius maximum temperature and minimum temperature was 14.6 degree Celsius.
While maximum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded 20.1 degree Celsius, the night temperature settled at 12.4 degree Celsius. The day temperature in Kupwara was recorded 23.3 degree Celsius while night temperature settled at 14.8 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Kokernag was recorded 24.8 degree Celsius and the night temperature settled at 14.4 degree Celsius.
The day temperature in Gulmarg was recorded 19.2 degree Celsius while minimum temperature settled at 10.0 degree Celsius. In Leh, the day temperature was recorded 28.9 degree Celsius and night temperature was 13.3 degree Celsius. The neighbouring Kargil recorded 26.0 degree Celsius while the night temperature settled at 12.0 degree Celsius.
