JAMMU, Apr 8: RS Pura police today arrested a man with Rs 2 lakh consisting of old currency notes of 500 denomination.
According to a police spokesman, a special naka was laid today in R S Pura town for checking/frisking of vehicles during which one person tried to dodge the police party but the alert cops chased him and caught him at some distance.
During his personnel search, an amount of rupees two lakh consisting of old currency notes of 500 denomination were recovered from his possession. The seized currency was wrapped in four bundles (each bundle containing 100 notes) in a polythene bag.
The accused identified as Parshotam Kumar son of Chetan Kumar, resident of Kotli Charkan (Bishnah) was arrested along with demonetized currency notes for further legal action under Law.
The arrest and recovery was made by a police party headed by Surinder Choudhary, SDPO, RS Pura, assisted by Inspector Bhushan Manhas, SHO, police station R S Pura.
