JAMMU, Apr 7: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) has demanded deportation of Bangladeshis  and Rohingyas from the winter capital city and its surroundings.
Speaking at a press conference here today, the Jammu Chamber president,   Rakesh Gupta said that with the presence of  these foreign nationals,  whom the Chamber looks upon as criminals and drug traffickers, are threat to the peace, secularism  and brotherhood in the region. They have been disowned by their own country.
Gupta claimed that Jammu Chamber had raised this issue on earlier occasions also.  The CCI strongly demands their deportation from the State as the Chamber is committed to protect the interests of the people at large in the State.  It may not be out of place to mention that neither the Government of Jammu & Kashmir is signatory to any United Nation’s treaty, nor Article 370  allows illegal foreign settlers for any permanent settlement in the State, Gupta maintained.
He further pointed out that District Administration had initiated process to identify such settlers and the Union Government had asked for the details about these settlers from the State, but till date, these foreigners have not been deported from the State.
The Jammu Chamber president cautioned the State and the Union Government to throw out these illegal settlers within one month and book the people on whose land these foreigners have settled under PSA, otherwise, Chamber shall have no option but to launch a mass movement against such criminals.
The Chamber feels that it shall be no offence to deal with such criminals/ drug traffickers who have illegally crossed into J&K and it is high time that the people at large should also shoulder and share responsibility and deal with them as the situation demands.
Rajesh Gupta- senior vice president,  Rajiv Gupta- junior vice president,  Manish Gupta- secretary general, Gaurav Gupta, secretary and Ashu Gupta- treasurer of the JCCI were also present.
