SRINAGAR: A weather warning was issued today for the avalanche-prone areas in North Kashmir and in Kargil for the next 24 hours.
An official spokesperson here this evening said Divisional Administration Kashmir issued avalanche warning for next 24 hours for hilly and avalanche-prone areas of Kupwara, Bandipora in North Kashmir and Kargil districts. He said a high danger avalanche warning valid from today till tomorrow exists for avalanche prone slopes in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, he said as medium danger avalanche warning exists for higher reaches of Kupwara and Bandipora districts of Kashmir division. He said all the concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to take precautionary measures in their respective districts.
People have been advised not to venture in avalanche-prone areas during the aforementioned period and monitor the situation regularly to avert any untoward incident, he added. (AGENCIES)
