JAMMU, Jan 24: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said that as per Agenda of Alliance, PDP-BJP Govt is committed to settle Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir valley.
“It is our committment as per AoA to settle displaced KPs in dignified manner,” Dr Singh told reporters outside the House.
Jammu and Kashmir Govt has identified 100 acres of land in different districts to settle Kashmiri Pandits.
“We have identified certain areas so that they settle down there and get used to the atmosphere before being settled,” said Dr Singh.
“We want them to take care of their property, land and other assets they have from the place they will be settled before being shifted,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Jan 19 unanimously passed the resolution on return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley with dignity.
Leader of Opposition Omar Abdullah raised the issue of return of Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley.
Mr Abdullah said that 27 years have passed since the migration of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley and an atmosphere should be created for their return with dignity.
On Republic Day, Dr Singh said that it is a big day for the nation and our enemy (Pakistan) try to disturb the peaceful celebrations but adequate measures havd been taken.
“Elaborate arrangements are made while security agencies are on alert and security grid is enhanced for incident free celebrations across the region,” he added.
Dr Singh also congratulated Mr Munir, a young artist from the state, whose paintaings of legislators, chief minister, Governor, LoP Omar Abdullah were displayed in the Assembly Hall. (AGENCIES)
