Jammu, Oct 12: A massive demonstration was organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today to lodge protest against non availability of LPG, cap on subsidized LPG cylinders and unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities.
The protest rally started from party office at Gandhi Nagar and passed through different areas. The protest demonstration was organised by Jammu urban district unit of the party under the leadership of R K Bali in which all senior leaders of the party were present.
PDP leaders regretted that on the one hand the Government has imposed a cap on six LPG subsidized cylinders throughout the year while on the other hand a cumbersome verification process has been started. They strongly condemned denial of the State Government to increase the cap on subsidized cooking gas cylinders. PDP leaders said that in other parts of the country, Congress ruled State Governments have increase cap of subsidized cylinders from 6 to 9 but in Jammu and Kashmir the State Government was insensitive towards problems of the common masses.
PDP leaders attacked NC led coalition regime and said that Government has failed to address the cooking gas problem which has hit the State worst with the onset of winter. The Government has decided to issue only 3 LPG subsidized cylinders for the remaining part of current year with a price of unsubsidized LPG cylinder fixed at Rs 961. They asked the State Government to announce some relief for the consumers.
