SRINAGAR, Dec 26: National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar visited Dastageer Sahib (RA) shrine at Khanyar to review the arrangements for forthcoming Urs falling on December 30 at the revered shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).
Sagar said that the administration must ensure uninterrupted water and power supply, medical aid, sanitation in and around the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib and availability and supply of essentials.
“The area is expecting to witness large congregations during the Urs period and as such it would be prudent for administration and police to implement necessary traffic regulatory measures so as to ensure smooth flow of the traffic around the shrine”, Sagar said.
While interacting with the locals, Sagar was apprised about the problems being faced by them. “It has come to my notice that the area is witnessing large power cuts and simultaneously facing an acute water shortage. The administration therefore must put men and machinery into action and see to it that such basic human needs are provided. During the Urs period, administration should put in place necessary water tankers around the shrine”.
“Ever since PDP-BJP Government, the only substantial work they have done is to create controversies. This was a non issue as far as issuance of identity certificates to West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) are concerned but the way Government is handling this matter is worrisome as it might infringe upon our special rights”, he added.
“As far as the issue of identity of WPR is concerned, that has already been taken care. Government in January had already issued Aadhar cards to these refugees so there is no point in issuing another ID certificate. We believe that the Government has a malicious intent in this process of issuing Domicile Certificates and therefore it needs to stop forthwith”, Sagar stated.
