Sir,
This has reference to the article “Door to door garbage collection”, by Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat. The author has not only enlightened residents of J&K state but even the officials of Rural Development Department have been made aware about this programme as they are unaware about this programe under Swachh Bharat Mission . Our villages need lot focus as heaps of solid waste especially plastic is seen in every nook and corner of rural areas. If Rural Development Department takes up door to door garbage collection with assistance from NGO’s , firms and other organisations doing this type of work, I am sure within a few years all our villages will be clean and green. I appeal Abdul Haq Khan Rural Development Minister to prepare a blueprint for solid waste management in rural areas across all the districts of J&K. In first phase hill districts like Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Kupwara, Bandipora, Kulgam should be identified for this work as environment is under severe threat in these areas.
Yours etc….
Shahab ul Haque
District President PDP Doda.

Sir,
The article is an eye opener for our villagers that waste management and door to door garbage collection is not the only prerogative of people living in cities and metros. This facility is now available in villages as well under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) component. The solid liquid waste management work is yet to begin in J&K state and it is hoped that Government will take up this issue on priority basis in the state as our villages are turning into slums because of lack of scientific solid liquid waste management. Rural Development Minister must seek feedback from all his BDO’s across J&K about this component of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Yours etc…
