JAMMU, Nov 23: Minister of Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that with construction work going on in full swing, seven newly sanctioned polytechnic colleges would start function from new buildings from March next year.
Veeri was speaking at a high level joint meeting of R&B, JKPCC, Technical Education, School Education, Health and Medical Education Departments convened to review the status of work on construction of buildings for polytechnic colleges, schools and health centres here today.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Public Works (R&B) Rohit Kansal, MD JKPCC Daleep Thusoo, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Alok Mengi, Director Technical Education Shabnum Shah Kamli, Director Planning R&B Tariq Ahmed Khan, Joint Director Planning School Education P S Kakroo and other senior officers.
It was informed that work on the buildings of polytechnic colleges coming up in Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Ganderbal, Larkipora Anantnag, Kulgam and Baramulla is nearing completion, while land is being acquired in Doda, Poonch, Shopian, Kishtwar and Udhampur.
Veeri asked the concerned agencies to speed up the process of work so that youth of far flung areas can take benefit of these institutes offering training in different technical trades at their door steps.
The Minister asked JKPCC to accelerate construction work on buildings of polytechnic colleges in Bandipora and Kupwara, where land has been already acquired.
The Minister also asked the executing agency JKPCC to adhere to AICTE norms of drawing.
Veeri also reviewed the construction status of school buildings under RAMSA and health centers. He directed the concerned executing agencies to speed up the work and complete the projects in stipulated time frame.
